18th Century Map of Trinidad and Tobago

For your amusement - an 18th century map of my good olde Trinidad.

Couldn't help but borrow this from Too Much Eyes, a neat little Tumblr page I visit often.

If you're interested in getting a snapshot of what life in the West Indian country was/is like, I recommend checking it out. ASAP.

Not sure if this is a veritable 1700s map, but it's nice to look at, anyways...

It seems as if everyone I know is expecting a child - or two - right now. Babies are being conceived left, right and center, by those much older and much younger than I. Even Beyonce and Jay-Z are finally having a kid!

With my thirtieth birthday essentially staring me in the face, one would think that I'd be eager to join the baby brigade. Instead, my mind jumps past the conception, gestation, delivery and infancy stages, to the actual rearing of a child.

I keep wondering about the sort of culture my child will be exposed to, the lifestyle and larger national community he or she will grow up within, the kind of accent my child will have...

Which inevitably makes me reflect upon my own rearing, back home in Trinidad.

Au Courant 'Nudie' Attache Case

As opposed to pulling out my hair due to Hurricane Irene anxiety this weekend, I decided to distract myself by putting my fingers to better use.

Punching those holes into a thick and somewhat unyielding leather hide sure did the trick!

By the time I paused to flex my cramped hands and snap this image, the only Irene I could recall was the woman who sang the Fame theme song...

Hoping to finish this in the coming week. Or so.

Stop-animation films generally run the gamut from wacky to wonderful, but it's not often that you get a video piece that merges the two.

Nowness recently posted the 2nd installment of their Chefs on Sunday's series, this time featuring a delectable, albeit on-the-go spread from Jon & Vinny of LA's Animal Restaurant.

Between the moving food, the brown paper package tied up with string, and that old-timey, doily tablecloth that looks like something I've seen in my mother's house, this video makes for an unexpected treat.

Watch out for the squiggly herring and try not to smile, while you're at it...
