Digging through my old clothes (read: specimens like decades-old denim overalls and cat-jumped-over-the-moon socks from childhood) I happened upon one of my yesteryear favourites: a weary Radical Designs denim shorts...
I've had this particular pair for well over 8 years; I think I bought it not too long after they opened up shop in Trinidad and, like many of my other favourites, I've beaten it to a shredded pulp.
See that frayed bit to the left? That's a rip poor ol' RD suffered about 5 years ago. I was relaying a tale at home in an overly animated fashion and the belt loop hooked in one of those old timey steel door handles, ripping the shorts from the hip to the hem and giving me a nasty bruise in the process.
The shameful part is that I used to actually wear the pants like that for quite some time, until the slit got a bit wider and folks began to ogle the side-glimpses of my butt cheeks!
So I decided it was high time to give RD a facelift, and I patched the gaping rip, starched it up a tad, and took it out for a whirl whilst doing errands in Greenwich Vlg last week.
It's so damn threadbare and beyond faded, but it works in this muggy NYC summer heat, and it's not too 'hooch' and skimpy, if you know what I mean!
