I love me a pair of vintage frames, and no one does them better than the gentlemen at Ben Bodington's on Henry Street, Port-of-Spain. The last time I wrote about Bodington's, a Trinidadian reader emailed me some days afterward, to ask if I was crazy.
Why?
Because after my rhapsodic piece on the wonders in-store at the yesteryear emporium, she merrily trodded into P.O.S, en route to the (admittedly) run-down locale, which was (understandably) not quite what she had expected!
So let me say this much: If you are daring enough to withstand the sweltering heat of Bodington's (the store is at least 40 years old, and a few, ancient fans are the only respite from the stifle, and they provide rather unreliable blasts of cool breeze...) and you can convince the old salesmen that you actually want the dusty specimens of eyewear that they're probably carting out to the dump, you'll receive some rare gems, like the metal-framed one I copped, above.
Otherwise, don't even bother to try - you'll be truly be overwhelmed by the not-so-quaint mustiness of it all...
I have no idea which company makes 'QLook' eyewear, but nonetheless, I can't wait to carry them to my US Optician to swap out the scratched lenses for my own prescription!
