Lenert & Sander applies 365 layers of makeup to Hannelore Knuts

This work by Dutch directors Lenert & Sander - as aided by makeup artist Ferry van der Nat and his assistant, Vanessa Chan - is intriguing on so many levels...

There's something to be said about the vicissitudes of time upon one's countenance; although the process of obsessively layering makeup is an act of seeking perfection - usually done to conceal flaws and visible signs of aging - the progression from model Hannelore Knuts' dewy face to a puckered, makeup-altered one creates the opposite effect.

Quite thought-provoking, really.
